Layla has achieved international fame as a solo belly dancer and as Director of the Lotus dance Company. Her inspiration to pursue oriental dance came four years ago when she was living in the Middle East and read Tahiya Carioca. This story inspired her to travel to Egypt where she studied under the world's premiere belly dance instructor, Reqia Hassan. When she returned to Los Angeles. Layla began working as a soloist , performing for audiences in restaurants and private parties, including parties for numerous celebrities and members of the Saudi royal family. Layla also danced in the Cannes Film Festival, among many other international venues and appeared as a featured dancer in MTV music videos for artist such as R Kelly and Brian Mcknight. Layla's vision for a international dance company came to life 4 years ago when she put together a small group of dancers to perform at the Cow Palace in San Francisco for an audience of 15,000. Since then, the popularity of the Lotus Dance. Company has exploded continuing to introduce a new form of oriental dance called FUSION to audiences all over the world.
