Born in the Dominican Republic, Amida is a multifaceted dancer and performer. Although highly skilled in the native dances of her country, she began her Belly Dancing career in 2000 under the direction of internationally renowned dancer Virginia. Amida quickly became one of the original members and a principal dancer of the incomparable dance company ‘Wa Nour Al Ayun’. A stunning performer of Egyptian cabaret, however, you may also enjoy the delights of performances that include Swords, Veils, Finger Cymbals, Fire, Canes and more!
Amida has received the honor of performing for many noted celebrities of which include Gloria Estefan, the group N’Sync, the Miami Heat team, and the Hilton family. She has also recently shared the stage with HBO Entourage’s Adrian Grenier and his band The Honey Brothers. Amida was one of the first contestants from Florida asked to perform on FOX’s hit TV show “So you think you can dance” and has appeared on the widely popular Univision show “Sabado Gigante”. In 2006 she performed in Paris, France for the ambassador of Morocco. In 2007 she had the honor of performing for Madame Raquia Hassan at her festival in Cairo, Egypt. In addition to on going weekly performances in distinguished south Florida restaurants, Amida offers weekly classes in Dade and Broward County along with private classes and choreography courses.
